lump question?

ok, so usually near my period i have some soreness but this month it's more localized and there's a lump. it's a big lump though, maybe the size of a flat olive, as opposed to the pea size type thing that a cancerous lump would be. i'm also over a week from actually getting my period. my husband said maybe it's a lymph node?...any ideas?
