I am not sure what to do now, any help?

recently i met this guy, well about a year and a few months ago on a trip to australia. i know that we had a connection, and at least a friendship. we are both from canada. weve been in contact sort of on and off since we went there....problem he lives on the other side of canada.im west hes east. weve been texting etcetera. is it possible to have a relationship with someone if they live on the east coast and ur on the west?? what can test it to prove its strong enough to be worth it?i kinda hinted at him that i wanted to visit...i dont know what hes going to say....anyways...thats about all....just wanted to knwo what you guys think..i think its real since weve kept in contact like this. we had a talk last night and i told him how i feel, all he said was " realistically we cant work". meaning we live too far away i guess.. that really hurt and now i wonder if i should just not talk to him anymore, i knida thought something might come of this.
