USMC Motor T Operator vs Mechanic?

I am a Poolie for the Marine Corps who leaves in September. I am signed up for MOS 35xx. I am not sure if I want to be an operator or a mechanic. I love driving and I love mechanics. What I want to know is how often would I be driving trucks in Afghanistan or wherever I am deployed as a mechanic. I want to pick the one where I will get to drive but also learn to work on cars. If the mechanics do not drive the trucks at all than I will be going operator. Any info from past or present Marines would be great. Thanks, and Semper Fi!
