How can I use my MLIS to work for UNICEF?

I am about to graduate with an MLIS from a prestigious university in Canada. The thing is, I do not want to be a traditional librarian. It's actually my dream to work for the UN or UNICEF promoting literacy and information literacy in underdeveloped countries. I am also interested in being an advocate for education reform in inner city schools and developing educational programs for young girls internationally and domestically. I would like to work In one of these areas, but i am not sure how. I don't how my degree can help me. Any advice on where I can apply when I finish school to get started on the path towards my dream?
