there is possibly a chance, and sounds like a good thing for him. he just needs space it seems. maybe you can try talk to him, but not remind him about love and such whilst he's away. talk to him like how is his day, and some interesting topics he likes or you both have. it will least let him know you care about him =] hope it works out for you!
