A couple questions about my 86' volvo 240 wagon 4 speed I just purchased.?

I'm somewhat new to Volvo, and I have a couple questions about the 86' Volvo 240 station wagon 4 speed I just purchased. For one, all of a sudden a couple days ago it became extremely difficult to shift. The clutch engages and disengages fine it seems, but it just takes A LOT of pressure to put it in gear and shift, and it grinds putting it in reverse. Also, the heater fan does not seem to be running, the kid I bought the car from says it was a blown fuse, but I changed the fuses and it still does not work. Is this most likely a bad motor or an electrical problem? Thanks!
