AFRAID, working title.?

I am a high school student who wants to be SCREENWRITER as a career. I have an idea and i want your opinion on it. My script is about a man who since he was a boy is AFRAID (hint hint title) of the dark. He hears things, terrible things. Thats all i have right now on what its about but can anybody please suggest something that should happen. Like he goes to live where his mother died and relive what happened or something like that to make the character have a purpose. Please anyone?
